Warriors’ stars make confident statements ahead of Game 3

Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson all had performances to forget in Wednesday night’s Game 2 loss.

Curry went 7-of-19 and 1-of-8 from deep while scoring just 16 points. Thompson scored eight points and was 3-of-11 from the field. Green had four turnovers and went -24 in 37 minutes.

All three spoke during Warriors shootaround on Saturday, ahead of Sunday’s Game 3 at Oracle Arena, and all three sounded confident that they’ll bounce back.

“I’ve gone 0-for-11 before shooting threes and 1-for-8, whatever the case is,” Curry said adding that he’s “not losing any sleep over Wednesday’s performance.

“I always shoot that next shot with the optimism and confidence that it’s going in. So, you can work on stuff between practices and games to get your rhythm, just seeing the ball going in and working on your mechanics, but (I’ll) never lose confidence in myself. That’ll never change.”

“I knew the last couple of days was going to be about Steph struggling shooting the ball, but then that’s the last thing I’m worried about,” Kevin Durant said, per ESPN’s Chris Haynes. “I’ve got so much confidence in him on the offensive side of the basketball. As far as shooting the ball, I said this way before you guys even said that he was the best shooter to ever play. I got confidence in him on that side. I think we all do.

Green seemed even less concerned, saying that the Warriors have a letdown once per series.

“We allow one of those a series,” Green said Saturday, per The Athletic’s Anthony Slater. “We’ve had our one. Now it’s time to lock in.”

That has certainly been the case this year, with the Warriors losing their lone games in the previous rounds by double digits.

Thompson is confident he’ll be better in Game 3 as well, guaranteeing a better performance.

“I’ll be better tomorrow. Guaranteed,” Thompson said via Marcus Thompson of The Athletic.

Game 3 tips off at 5 PM on Sunday.
