Tolbert and Lund handicap NBA Finals odds and prop bets

SAN FRANCISCO – If you haven’t heard, on May 14 the Supreme Court ruled to strike down a federal law that prohibited most gambling on major American sports. Now you can legally make all those bets that you definitely, definitely weren’t already making.

This means that now we can officially help you make those bets, and on the eve of the fourth straight Warriors vs. Cavaliers NBA Finals matchup Tom Tolbert and John Lund took some time to run through various odds and prop bets surrounding the matchup.

Las Vegas has the odds of a Warriors sweep of the Cavaliers at 9-2. The odds for the Warriors winning the series in five games, probably the most common prediction of the series, are set at 8-5. Vegas has given Golden State 4-1 odds to win in six games, and the same 4-1 odds for a Golden State win in a Game 7.

“If I were going to bet, I would bet the sweep,” Tolbert said. “I think there’s a better chance that it’s going to be a sweep than go seven. And seven’s only 4-1. I get 4.5-1 on the sweep.”

Tolbert also went on to say he thinks Stephen Curry will win his first finals MVP. Right now, Vegas has the odds of a Curry MVP at 7-4.

“I do think maybe slightly more the focus is on Durant,” Tolbert said. “I think he’ll have a big series. And I’ll call for him to be the MVP this time.”
