Oracle chants ‘MVP’ while J.R. Smith shoots free throws

Oracle Arena is showing no mercy to J.R. Smith.

The Oakland crowd started off by treating Smith to a standing ovation during pregame warmups, and continued the trolling when Smith went to the line early in the first quarter, chanting “MVP” as he shot free throws.

The treatment of course stems from the role Smith played in the Warriors’ Game 1 win, when he forgot the score during a tie game, and instead of taking a shot with just over four seconds remaining, attempted to run out the clock.

The play ensured the game went into overtime, where the Warriors dominated the Cavs, ultimately winning the game 124-114.

Smith came out firing in Game 2, with his six shots the most attempts of any Cavs player in the first quarter. Through 10 minutes, Smith is 2-for-6 with five points.
