SAN FRANCISCO — Monday night, the Giants shut down the Arizona Diamondbacks in the fourth inning with a seven-run rally that started with back-to-back home runs from Andrew McCutchen and Brandon Crawford.

The Giants won their fifth game in a row during this home stand, beating the Diamondbacks 10-3.

The game started as a fierce pitchers’ duel, as Derek Holland started the game with four consecutive strikeouts. Holland gave up two runs in the third. In the fourth inning, with one out and Giants runners on, Bruce Bochy decided to pinch-hit Alen Hanson — it paid off.

With bases loaded, Hanson battled against Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zack Godley and hit a double down the left field line that scored two runs. The Giants continued to pile on as Panik was hit by a pitch and loaded the bases once more. Buster Posey’s double scored two more. The Giants scored again on a wild pitch before the Diamondbacks stopped the bleeding.

“Yeah, it woke us up a little bit after they scored two in the inning,” Pablo Sandoval said. “Coming back in, you know, you want to get the answer as soon as possible. It’s exciting.”

The Giants continued to pour it on as the game progressed. Sandoval added a solo home run.

“You know, that’s a good team, we took advantage in the inning,” Sandoval said.
