SAN FRANCISCO — Tuesday was special for Giants fans, as ace Madison Bumgarner returned to make his first start of the season against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Bumgarner was greeted by a huge standing ovation as he took the mound, walking out to ‘Fire on the Mountain’ by the Marshall Tucker Band.

Bumgarner missed the first 60 games of the 2018 season after he broke his pinky in his final spring training appearance. Bumgarner also faced injury in the 2017 season after a dirt biking accident while away on a road series in Colorado. He had only had 17 starts last season.

Bumgarner is 9-10 (.474) with a 2.58 ERA lifetime against Arizona, and the Giants are 126-105 (.545) all-time with Bumgarner on the mound. The lefty is looking to extend the Giants season-high five game win streak at AT&T Park, where the Giants are 18-10 (.643) on the year, ranking the fourth best in the majors.
