Watch the moment Jacob Evans finds out he’s being drafted by Warriors

The Warriors selected a two-way wing in the first round of the NBA Draft on Thursday, taking Cincinnati’s Jacob Evans with the 28th overall pick.

Shortly after the selection, video surfaced of Evans, who was not in attendance at the Barclays Center, hearing the news that he’d been drafted for the first time, and celebrating with his family.

Evans fits the mold of the long-armed athletic type that general manager Bob Myers has coveted over the years. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard has a 6-foot-9 wingspan and projects as a good defender at the NBA level.

Additionally, Evans was a solid 3-point shooter during his three seasons in college, shooting 37.7 percent (174-of-462) from beyond the arc.

With a lack of depth at the wing positions, the Warriors have consistently stated their desire to select a rookie that can play right away. Evans was named a first-team All-AAC selection in 2018 (his junior season), and averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
