Jalen Ramsey doesn’t think Jimmy Garoppolo should be included on NFL ‘Top 100’ list

When Jimmy Garoppolo’s 49ers faced Jalen Ramsey’s Jacksonville Jaguars on December 24 of last year, they dropped 44 points on the NFL’s top ranked defense. The performance included allowing 238 yards through the air, the third highest tally the Jags allowed in all of 2017.

Still Jalen Ramsey wasn’t all that impressed by what he saw out of Garoppolo, or at least that’s how it seems based comments he made on NFL Network Tuesday. When discussing the ‘NFL Top 100’ list, wherein NFL Network ranks the Top 100 players heading into the 2018 season, Ramsey said he didn’t think Garoppolo, who is ranked No. 90, should be included on the list.

“Not yet, not yet,” Ramsey told Kurt Warner and Michael Irvin. “What he play — five games?”

Garoppolo did indeed play in five games last season, winning all of them, and averaging 308.4 yards through the air in those contests. That per game average would’ve been the best in the NFL by a significant margin last year.

“He has good potential. I think he’ll be a good player, but off my experience in playing him, it was a lot of scheme stuff. It wasn’t like he was just dicing us up. It was a lot of scheme stuff.”

“Nobody had a scheme on him (in 2017),” Ramsey said. “There was not a lot of film out on him.”

A few people on Twitter took issue with Ramsey’s analysis.
