The Warriors have extended a $1.74 million qualifying offer for Patrick McCaw, making the 22-year-old guard an unrestricted free agent, according to Chris Haynes of ESPN.

McCaw is free to sign an offer sheet with any team provided it is above the $1.74 million threshold. The Warriors would have the opportunity to match any offer, or let McCaw walk. The Warriors could also negotiate a multi-year deal.

Golden State assistant general manager Kirk Lacob expressed the team’s desire to re-sign McCaw on KNBR Monday, but also said that he hopes the wing explores other options.

“We love Pat, and we really hope he’s back,” Lacob said. “Like any player, we would tell him: ‘This is about you and your life. It’s not about us. We really hope you come back and we’re going to offer you a contract, but go find out what’s best for you. Figure out what out there really makes you tick and what you want.”

McCaw averaged four points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 16.9 minutes per game last season.
