SAN FRANCISCO — Steve Kerr has a lot more time on his hands now that the Warriors have finished off their third championship in four years and the corresponding parade that comes with it.

So Kerr decided to spend some of his newly acquired free time Thursday afternoon at the Giants game in San Francisco. He was announced by public address announcer Renel Brooks-Moon and subsequently greeted with a standing ovation from the Giants fans in attendance. Kerr even received a handshake from and shared some words with Giants manager Bruce Bochy.

Bochy and Kerr each have three championships with their current team, with Bochy’s coming in 2010, 2012, and 2014, while Kerr’s have come in 2015, 2017, and 2018. The two skippers have helped usher in a new age of pro sports championships in the Bay Area that the region lacked for decades.

On the NBC Sports Bay Area broadcast, Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow noted that Kerr has won eight total championships: five as a player, and three as a coach. They also noted that he played college basketball at Arizona with Tom Tolbert.

“And he got to play with Tom Tolbert. Doesn’t get any better than that,” Krukow said.

“Yeah, he would trade those eight rings in a heartbeat for a chance to just play five more minutes with Tom Tolbert,” Kuiper said.

“Yeah, I agree. He would agree. Tom Tolbert would agree,” Krukow said.

Kerr was shown to be taking in the game with Giants President & CEO Larry Baer.
