JaVale McGee joined LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday afternoon after spending the past two seasons with the Warriors. McGee thanked Dub Nation on Twitter shortly after the news.

McGee, known for his quirky personality both on the floor and off it, joined the Warriors after the Dallas Mavericks waived him after the 2015-16 season. He signed a one-year minimum deal, played a complementary role with rim-protecting and finishing prowess, shot a career-best 65.8 percent from the floor, and won his first championship. He re-signed for another one-year deal last offseason and continued to provide worth to the Warriors frontcourt, especially down the stretch when he started in three of the four NBA Finals games of Golden State’s sweep over the James-led Cleveland Cavaliers.

McGee became an unrestricted free agent Sunday. The front office has turned to younger options Kevon Looney, Jordan Bell, and Damian Jones to shoulder the load.

Just as McGee did, Warriors fans will positively look back on his two-year stint with Golden State.
