The Warriors’ head of physical performance and sports medicine Chelsea Lane is leaving Golden State, according to Marcus Thompson of The Athletic. Her new position is with the Atlanta Hawks, as the Executive Director of Athletic Performance and Sports Medicine.

Lane has been with the Warriors for three seasons, and was reportedly very popular amongst the players for her holistic approach and honesty. Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala were among her biggest supporters. Lane was the only woman in the NBA to head a team’s training staff.

The Warriors reportedly attempted to keep Lane, but she was interested in the larger role with the Hawks.

“She’s been amazing, especially for me,” Stephen Curry said earlier this year. “Just thinking about all that I’ve been through this year with the ankle and the knee and all that type of stuff, she’s just kept me sane.”

Before joining Golden State, Lane, a native of Australia, worked with the New Zealand national track and field program.
