The Giants are interested in acquiring Mets closer Jeurys Familia, according to Buster Olney of ESPN. The Phillies are also interested, but may wait until the Manny Machado and Zach Britton situations are resolved before making a move, according to Olney.
NL teams appear to be at the forefront of the talks about the Mets' Jeurys Familia, who is among the best available relievers. Phillies interested (although they may wait until Britton/Machado talks resolved), Giants, etc.

Familia, 28, is having a solid season, posting a 2.88 ERA in 40 appearances, while notching 17 saves. After leading the major leagues with 51 saves in 2016, Familia struggled last season while dealing with a blood clot in his right shoulder. Familia’s one-deal with the Mets worth $7,925,000 is set to expire at the end of 2018.
Hunter Strickland was having a solid season as the Giants’ closer before knocking himself out of that role by punching a door and fracturing his right hand. Mark Melancon — who the Giants thought would be their closer when they signed him to a four-year $62 million deal two offseasons ago — is still getting settled as he recovers from a lingering forearm issue. Will Smith has filled in capably as the team’s closer since June 30, going 3 for 3 in save opportunities.
