Crawford flashes Gold Glove in sprinting catch near third-base wall

OAKLAND – Not everything has gone the way of the San Francisco Giants in the fifth installment of the 2018 Bay Bridge Series, but at least they have this guy manning the shortstop position (any beyond).

In the bottom of the sixth inning Matt Olson found him at the plate against Sam Dyson, who was on to relieve Madison Bumgarner. The Giants ace only made it through 5.0 innings after walking in two runs to give the Athletics a 2-1 lead. The Giants decided to play the shift against Olson, moving 3B Pablo Sandoval across the infield.

When Olson chopped at a pitch from Dyson, slicing it high in the air towards the third base stands, the closest outfield player was Brandon Crawford.

Crawford had an incredible jump on the ball and instantly started sprinting to his right. A full five seconds later, the three-time Gold Glove winner got under the pop-up to complete the incredibly rangy play.

It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve watched Brandon Crawford play shortstop, if you watch for long enough he’s bound to do something amazing.
