Posey, Bochy discuss playoff-like atmosphere of Bonds ceremony

On Saturday night, Buster Posey watched as Barry Bonds had his number retired. Posey will likely receive his own ceremony one day, but for now, he’s not ready to think about his place in Giants history.

“It’s too early,” Posey said. “I think I have a lot of games ahead of me, hopefully a lot more wins and some playoff runs.”

The feeling surrounding the ceremony felt similar to a player who has three World Series rings.

“The atmosphere with the ballpark filled up beforehand was similar to a playoff game you know, with fans there that early,” Posey said. “That’s a fun feeling.”

Bochy, who was on the field for the ceremony, said he was happy for his former player.

“It was a big day for Barry and I’m sure he had a lot of emotions going through him there,” Bochy said. “He had a lot of family and friends. But it’s a good day for him, big day for him.”
