49ers second-round pick Dante Pettis launches BP homers at Minute Maid Park

The 49ers arrived in Houston on Tuesday ahead of two joint practices and a preseason game on Saturday with the Texans. Enjoying his day off, San Francisco rookie wide receiver Dante Pettis visited his dad, Gary Pettis, a former major league outfielder who now serves as the third-base coach for the Houston Astros, at Minute Maid Park.

Pettis decided to step into the cage and take some BP hacks before the Astros’ game vs. the Rockies. Pettis, who didn’t play baseball at the high school level, showed off an impressive swing as his dad looked on, launching a handful of pitches into the seats.

Pettis, 22, was an All-American wide receiver at Washington in 2017, and is expected to start the year as either the 49ers’ third or fourth WR on the depth chart.
