McCutchen gives hilarious take on Giants vs. Dodgers brawl

Andrew McCutchen knows you probably want to hear his thoughts on the Giants vs. Dodgers brawl last night that started between Nick Hundley and Yasiel Puig. As a man of the people, McCutchen came through.

“So I’m looking down at my feet, the next thing you know, I hear the fans,” McCutchen said. “I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ So I look up, Puig and Hundy, they’re going at it.”

Then came the ‘light tornado’ of the Giants bullpen running past him.

“The next thing you know, I feel a breeze, kind of feels like a light tornado going right by me,” McCutchen said. “It’s the bullpen. I’m like ‘dang,’ my reaction time is way off.”

He said he missed out on the action like most outfielders usually do.

“By the time I got there, we was all just chilling, just staring at each other,” McCutchen said.

He thought about trying to ease the tension at home plate but decided against it.

“Literally, I thought about brightening the mood and I was just going to get into a karate pose,” McCutchen said. “But I didn’t do it.”

Once he got there, the fight was over.

“And that was it,” McCutchen said. “That’s basically most brawls for outfielders anyway. By the time you get there, it’s over. So you just ran and got tired.”

McCutchen likened the experience to a kid late for a birthday party.

“Being in the outfield during the brawl is equivalent to being a little kid showing up to a birthday party late,” McCutchen said. “You’re coming in all excited, they’re already wet and eating cake.”

But at the end of the day, McCutchen just wants everyone to get along.

“Let’s just play baseball, not fight.”
