Steven Duggar gives Giants 2-0 lead with first career home run at AT&T Park

Steven Duggar has looked right at home at AT&T Park all year. The only thing he’s been missing is his first AT&T home run. On Monday night, he finally got it, torching a line-drive to the arcade in right field to score Brandon Crawford and give the Giants a 2-0 lead over the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks.

The first time Duggar hit a home run in the big leagues was in Arizona earlier this month. Despite the feat, Duggar was met with the traditional reception that MLB players give first-time home run hitters: the silent treatment.

The home run was a rare feat for a Giants team that entered the night as the third-worst home run hitting team in the majors, only ahead of the Miami Marlins and Detroit Tigers. The second-inning homer also gave the Giants an early lead, which has been a theme over the three prior games, when the Giants scored a combined nine runs in the first inning.
