The Giants extended their winning streak to four games on Tuesday evening, when Gorkys Hernandez walked things off in the ninth inning to give San Francisco a 1-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
With two on and one out, Steven Duggar scored from second base on Hernandez’s liner to left field. The play happened just moments after what looked like a potentially serious injury for Duggar, when the outfielder making a headfirst slide into second.
A loss for the Giants would have been brutal after Madison Bumgarner’s seven-inning gem, where he allowed just four hits on 107 pitches. The victory is San Francisco’s 12th shutout of the season.
