49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan ruled out three players for Sunday’s home opener against the Detroit Lions during his press conference on Friday afternoon.

Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (quadricep), guard Joshua Garnett (toe), and center Erik Magnuson (hamstring) were all not healthy enough to practice on Friday, and will be unavailable this weekend. Both Goodwin and Garnett were injured during last Sunday’s Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, while Magnuson is still recovering from an injury sustained during training camp.

Rookie Dante Petis, who scored an impressive touchdown in his NFL debut last week, will get the start in place of Goodwin. Preseason standout Richie James will also be activated. As previously mentioned by Shanahan on KNBR Thursday, rookie practice-squad call-up Najee Toran will start at right guard alongside Mike McGlinchey, assuming Mike Person is unavailable. Person is currently listed as questionable to play on Sunday.

Safety Adrian Colbert and linebacker Malcolm Smith are also listed as questionable for Sunday, but both participated in practice on Friday.
