Tolbert’s Beer Review: Crux Fermentation Project Gimme Mo (Not just another IPA)

You’ve stumbled upon what the staff in KNBR’s digital department thinks might be Tom Tolbert’s longest–and most entertaining–beer review yet.

Mr. T took his time with this one, giving you six minutes and 30 seconds of thought ranging from the difference between East Coast and West Coast IPAs, to a summer rafting trip up in Oregon, to Tom’s dad’s friend John who had a cooler in his couch.

And, of course, beer.

This week’s beer comes from Bend, Oregon, and the fine folks up at Crux Fermentation Project. Housed in an old AAMCO transmission plant, the brewery uses non-traditional brewing practices to deliver “limitless possibilities that wild yeast strains and experimental hops present.”

More from the brewer:

Geez—not another IPA! That’s right, this is not just another IPA. Consider it a next generation IPA. A slightly sweet, lower ABV, IPA providing welcome relief from the onslaught of bitter hop bombs out there. Its complex aromatic layers, suggest mango, melon, pine and berries, are driven by whole-leaf Mosaic and Citra hops which are then balanced by an acidulated and pilsner malt bill. Finally, its silky smooth mouthfeel will leave you asking for “mo!”
