With Patrick McCaw still unsigned, the Warriors are bringing another young guard into training camp. Golden State is signing former Suns point guard Tyler Ulis to an Exhibit 10 contract, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Ulis, 22, was a standout in college at the University of Kentucky, earning consensus first-team All American honors in 2016. Since being selected by the Suns in the second-round of the 2016 NBA Draft, Ulis served as a rotation piece in Phoenix, averaging over 21 minutes per game in his first two seasons.

Ulis’s short NBA career has been largely defined by his shooting struggles, with the point guard shooting 40.3 percent from the field since entering the league. In 2017-18, Ulis averaged 7.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 23.4 minutes per game.

According to cap expert Larry Coon, an Exhibit 10 contract is as follows:

“An Exhibit 10 bonus can pay the player from $5,000 to $50,000 if the player is waived by his NBA team, signs with the G League, is assigned to the NBA team’s G League affiliate and stays there at least 60 days.”
