Kyle Shanahan met with media and gave an update on the golden egg of the 49ers franchise, telling reporters that Jimmy Garoppolo did indeed have surgery on Wednesday morning to repair his torn left ACL.
Other than that update, Shanahan held any other information he had on the surgery close to the chest.
“We’ve been going pretty hard here, I’m not sure what time it was this morning,” Shanahan said. The 2nd-year head coach was also uncertain on a potential timetable for when Garoppolo’s recovery process.
“It’s way too early. When he wakes up and I talk to the doctors who did it, we’ll get some clarity.”
Garoppolo tore his ACL as he made a cut during the team’s Week 3 game against the Chiefs. Doctors had to wait for the swelling to go down to perform the surgery, but now the long road to recovery for Garoppolo begins.
