Over the last week, Steve Kerr and Kevin Durant have been asked constantly about Friday night’s preseason game in Seattle. Tonight, the Warriors take on the Sacramento Kings in KeyArena, where Durant played his rookie season and Kerr spent plenty of games during his playing days, including the 1996 NBA Finals which he and the Chicago Bulls won over the SuperSonics.
According to Connor Letourneau, Kerr wore the jersey as a way of supporting a potential return of an NBA franchise in Seattle.

The Warriors were not allowed to wear throwback jerseys, but that didn’t prevent Durant from preparing with a pair of SuperSonics-themed shoes that he’ll wear during the game:

Durant’s potential Sonics career was cut short by the team’s move to Oklahoma City. On media day, Durant said, “It was very devastating how we up and left in the middle of the night,” although he was aware of the talk surrounding the franchise’s potential departure from the Pacific Northwest.
Today, he reaffirmed where he stands on bringing back a Seattle franchise to the NBA.
Kevin Durant: “I think everyone knows Seattle needs a basketball team.”

The one-time MVP and two-time Finals MVP can recall exactly what his first “weird” NBA season was like:
