The Giants’ search for a new personnel guru continues.
The latest candidate to surface is the Arizona Diamondbacks senior vice president and assistant general manager Amiel Sawdaye, who San Francisco brought in for an interview according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Sawday is expected to be a finalist for the position.

The Giants are currently in the middle of a front office shakeup since the firing of general manager, and longtime San Francisco executive Bobby Evans in late September. Brian Sabean is still the Giants’ VP of baseball operations for the time being, but is expected to take a back seat once the club fills Evans’ vacated position.
Sawdaye, 41, “oversees the D-Backs’ amateur and international scouting while assisting GM Mike Hazen on all facets of baseball operations”, according to the team’s website. Before joining Arizona in 2016, Sawdaye had spent 16 years with the Boston Red Sox, where he was a part of three world championship teams.
Sawdaye currently lives in Scottsdale, AZ, the Giants’ annual spring training home. He is the second candidate the Giants are reportedly bringing in for an interview, joining MLB executive Kim Ng according to MLB.com. San Francisco was also reportedly barred from speaking to Brewers general manager David Stearns.
