Cousins swats students’ shots on visit to San Francisco elementary school

SAN FRANCISCO – It may be months before DeMarcus Cousins takes the court in a game for the Warriors. Today, Cousins took to a much smaller court than the one at Oracle Arena. The All-Star center visited students at Malcolm X Academy, an elementary school in San Francisco.

In addition to a meet-and-greet, Cousins took to the court with students. As you’d expect from Cousins in any NBA game, he was a force in the paint. Unlike an NBA game, he was a force against elementary school students, hilariously rejecting shots left and right without exerting much effort.

Cousins signed hats and played one-on-ones in an effort to inspire students.

“Being in these kids’ shoes at one point in my life, I wish I had that same opportunity to be around a person with a certain stature,” Cousins said to KCBS. “Just for inspiration and motivation. Hopefully, that was accomplished today.”
