Stephen Curry: Film Executive?

That’s soon to be the case according to Scott Feinberg of the Hollywood Reporter, who wrote Wednesday that Curry has become an executive producer for the upcoming film Breakthrough, starring Topher Grace of That 70’s Show fame.

Curry hopped aboard after being inspired by the book (The Impossible by Joyce Smith) on which the film is based, which tells the story John Smith, a basketball-loving 14-year-old who was declared legally dead after falling through ice but ended up surviving.

“John’s story is nothing short of incredible,” Curry told the Hollywood Reporter. “It’s a story about the power of prayer and perseverance and one I immediately connected to. After reading the script, I knew I wanted to be a part of bringing it to life onscreen.”

Curry recently started his own production company, Unanimous Media, earlier this year, thought this project is not being produced under that banner.

The movie also stars Chrissy Metz of This Is Us fame, and is set for release in April of 2019.
