OAKLAND – Stephen Curry and breaking three-point records; name a better combination. The two-time NBA MVP has started this season by making an absurd number of threes, even by his standards.
Over the course of the first four games, Curry has drained 22 three-pointers. The previous record was 21 threes, set by, you guessed it: Stephen Curry.
Per @EliasSports, Stephen Curry's 22 three-pointers through the first four games of the season are a new NBA record for most threes through the first four games. Curry set the previous mark of 21 in 2015-16.

But that wasn’t the only milestone Curry notched tonight. With his 29 points (one point away from his fourth-straight 30 point game) tonight, Curry and his father, Dell, passed Dolph and Danny Schayes (27,218 points) to become second all-time in father-son combined NBA points. Of course, the Currys are still a ways off from the top father-son duo of all-time in Kobe and Joe Bryant (38,895 points). Curry said he might have to get creative to pass Kobe and his father.
“It’s pretty special,” Curry said. “Knowing what my dad did in his career for 16 years, just him passing the torch to me and I’m going to try and talk to the rules committee and see if we can get Seth Curry’s numbers in there too. Strength in numbers right there, see if we can catch Kobe and his dad.”
Curry and the Warriors rebounded from a disappointing performance Sunday night against the Denver Nuggets in a 100-98 loss on the road. The team made 14 threes and shot 37.8 percent from behind the arc. Kevin Durant and Alfonzo McKinnie both hit from behind the arc, moving the total Warriors’ players with at least two threes to five.
It’s still a low number for a team that redefined basketball through their use of the three-point shot, but Curry has picked up the slack where others, like Klay Thompson (3-of-22 from three), have faltered.
