He might not be in San Francisco anymore, but Eduardo Núñez undoubtedly made a number of Giants fans smile on Tuesday night.
The former Giants infielder smashed a three-run homer over the Green Monster in Fenway Park to help seal the Red Sox’ 8-4 win over the Dodgers in Game 1 of the World Series. Núñez entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning, and made the most of just the second pitch he saw, golfing a low and inside off-speed pitch from Dodgers reliever Alex Wood.
Núñez, 31, was a member of the Giants for parts of the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Though his tenure was brief, Núñez was a fan favorite in San Francisco before being traded to the Red Sox, and it’s unlikely he did anything to change that Tuesday evening.
