Draymond jokes he threw acrobatic pass because he was ‘gassed’

OAKLAND – Draymond Green finally returned to action tonight after a nearly month-long absence with a sprained right toe. Green returned to put up 7 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists in a 116-108 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The highlight of the night, as head coach Steve Kerr said, was the half-ending play which featured a full-court pass from Stephen Curry to Draymond Green, who caught the ball mid-air and sent it to Klay Thompson, who drained a buzzer-beating 3-pointer.

After the game, Green spoke about feeling like a “kid in a candy store,” at the thought of his return and broke down, hilariously, the half-ending play, which he said was his favorite play of the night to be involved in.

“Realistically, I was gassed,” Green said. “I had no energy to go for the layup and I saw Klay open so I just threw the ball. Steph threw me a lob, there was no way I was catching a lob. Yeah, Klay was open. That’s the road of less miles traveled. One more dribble probably would’ve took me out, so just give the ball to Klay and walk off.”
