New team, same Hunter Pence.
Just six days, and three games into his Winter League tenure with the Dominican Republic’s Toros del Este (Bulls of the East), Pence gave a rousing postgame speech in “spanish” to his new teammates. Pence did so sans shirt, and also with the honorary “Toro Cadena” around his neck, after a two-hit performance in a 5-4 win.

Pence, 35, arrived in the Dominican Republic on Dec. 6 for the first Winter League stint of his career, after spending the majority of the previous two months training in Southern California. Pence is trying to revive his career after playing out the final season of his contract with the Giants in 2018. Pence said earlier this offseason on KNBR that he plans to keep playing in the major leagues next season.
