Richard Sherman responds to Frank Clark: ‘Kids say the darnedest things’

Seahawks defensive end Frank Clark had some words for Richard Sherman earlier this week, after the 49ers defensive back called the Seahawks a ‘middle of the road’ team.

“At the end of the day, ‘middle of the road,’ that’s Richard Sherman being Richard Sherman. He’s not in this locker room anymore, so his opinion really doesn’t matter,” Clark said, via the Seattle Times. “You know what I mean? They’ve got problems over there in San Fran that he needs to be worried about. At the end of the day, this is my team now. This is my defense. Richard Sherman and his era is over here.”

As you’d expect, Sherman was ready with a cutting rebuttal for Clark when he was asked to address the “elephant in the room” during his presser on Thursday.

“It’s like a mouse in the room,” Sherman said via Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. “It’s like ‘Kids say the darnedest things.’ It didn’t bother me at all. It seemed like a guy who was probably tired of hearing the same questions. I wasn’t even a part of that game. And they’re still asking questions after the game about me.”

The spat should add some fuel to the fire this weekend, when the two teams face off for the second time since Sherman made the move to San Francisco last offseason. The Niners were blasted in their first meeting in Seattle two weeks ago, losing 43-16.
