Former Giants catcher Hector Sanchez leveled an opponent with a vicious right-cross during a benches clearing brawl in a Venezuelan winter league game on Wednesday night.
The fracas began when Caracas pitcher Felix Perez threw two pitches behind La Guaira batter Jorgan Cavanerio. Cavanerio charged the mound immediately. As the two scraped the benches began to clear, with players from both teams descending as Perez kicked Cavanerio in the ribs.

Things eventually settled down when Perez was pulled away by teammates, but reignited when Perez broke free and tried to re-engage. That’s when the scrum started moving towards the dugout, and Sanchez floored Perez after the pitcher swung at him. The brawl eventually spilled into the dugout as fans threw drinks onto the players.
To add another layer of absurdity, a spectator ran onto the field and stole an outfielders glove before climbing back into the stands.

Sanchez, 29, was the Giants’ backup catcher for much of the 2011-2015 seasons. Sanchez briefly returned to the organization on a minor-league deal in January of 2018, before being released on May 27.
