The shoe DeMarcus Cousins will sport in his first game as a member of the Warriors, likely to be this Friday, will represent the theme of time. Cousins, who suffered a torn Achilles last January, has spent the past year rehabbing the most brutal common injury among athletes.
Cousins, Puma’s most marketable basketball representative, will wear a black-and-white shoe, emblazoned with a racing flag graphic, along with the phrase, “THE MARATHON CONTINUES…” pasted — perhaps ironically — near the heel.

In the last year, Cousins has undergone a whirlwind — his career-best season was suddenly cut short, the possibilities of signing a max contract after the 2017-18 season vanished, he received minimal interest as a free agent, and he ultimately signed a cheap, one-year deal as a complementary piece for an already established dynasty.
Throughout the past six months, the NBA world has waited to watch Cousins playing alongside four All-Stars. Friday is likely the day we will get that first glimpse. Cousins is expected to start Friday when Golden State visits the Los Angeles Clippers.
“Just to be able to go out there and compete, have my blood boilin’ and playing between the lines – playing for something … I’m just excited to be back on the floor and get back to the player that I was – being a dominant player.”
