LOS ANGELES – DeMarcus Cousins has closed the book on what was one of the most taxing (physically and emotionally) days of his life. After nearly a year of being out of basketball, Cousins finally returned to the court for an NBA game, this time in a Golden State Warriors uniform.
“I felt like a kid on Christmas,” Cousins said, when asked about what it felt like to be back on an NBA court. But he continued on a more serious note about the struggle he endured to get back to this point in his career.
“It’s been a long journey… this is probably one of the best days of my life, just being out there on the court playing the game that I love,” Cousins said. “My teammates were great, they supported me through this entire process, the organization has supported me through this entire process… like I said, this is one of the best days of my life.”
He said he was, “Extremely nervous,” before the game:

Cousins also laughed about the attention he received today, and the fact that Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry have to deal with that attention daily:
