Nick Bosa on 680: ‘I’d be lucky to get picked by’ 49ers

Nick Bosa is considered by most draft experts to be the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. The 49ers are likely hoping he falls to them at No. 2, as the edge rusher happens to fill the team’s primary need heading into the offseason.

It sounds like Bosa wouldn’t mind falling either.

“I’d be lucky to get picked by them,” Bosa told Gary & Larry from Radio Row on Friday morning. “I mean the roster for a team that’s picking No. 2 is a really stacked roster. They had the injury at quarterback that obviously allowed them to get this high in the draft. I think it would be cool definitely to go play for a team that is closer than most people think to being a contender.”

Bosa missed nearly all of his junior season at Ohio State recovering from core muscle surgery. During his sophomore year, Bosa was named a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten and the Smith-Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year for his 32 total tackles (14.5 for a loss) and a team leading eight and a half sacks.

If the Niners were indeed lucky enough to have Bosa fall to them, he would also be a fit for their 4-3 scheme.

“I definitely think I could play in a 3-4 but I’ve always had my hand in the dirt, so definitely would feel more comfortable with my hand in the dirt. I just think you get off the ball faster and I’m able to use my hands a little better when I can put my hand in the ground.”
