SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The San Francisco Giants announced today that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Jake Barrett from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for cash considerations.

Barrett spent the majority of the 2018 season with triple-A Reno, posting a 4-0 record with a 2.87 ERA (17er, 53.1ip) and eight saves over 42 appearances. He held batters to a .195 opponents average against and averaged 11.3 strikeouts per 9.0 innings (67 strikeouts; 53.1ip) for the Aces. Barrett also appeared in seven games for the Diamondbacks last year, posting a 5.14 ERA (4er, 7.0ip).

The 27-year-old has spent his entire career with the Diamondbacks organization after being selected by Arizona in the third round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft. He’s appeared in 103 Major League games, posting a 4.05 ERA (42er, 93.1ip) with 88 strikeouts.

Over seven minor league seasons, Barrett has a 16-10 record with a 3.34 ERA (99er, 266.2ip) and has gone 90-for-110 in save opportunities. He’s recorded 278 strikeouts over his 266.2 innings of work in the minors.

To clear a spot for Barrett on the Giants 40-man roster, OF John Andreoli was designated for assignment.
