Scottsdale, Ariz. — The San Francisco Giants announced today that they have claimed right-handed pitcher Jose Lopez off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds.

The 26-year-old spent all of last season with triple-A Louisville, posting a record of 5-13 with a 4.47 ERA (70er, 141.0ip) along with 117 strikeouts in 26 starts. He led Bats pitchers in starts and innings pitched and ranked among the International League leaders in both categories, placing tied for second in starts and fourth in innings.

Lopez has gone 23-33 with a 3.63 ERA in 94 games (90 starts) throughout his five-year minor league career. He was selected by the Reds in the sixth round of the June 2014 First-Year Player Draft.

To clear a spot for Lopez on the Giants 40-man roster, LHP Josh Osich was designated for assignment.
