The Giants will play their first spring training game of 2019 on Saturday vs. the Angels in Tempe. On Friday, Bruce Bochy put together his first lineup of the season, and it included a number of new and young faces.

Recently signed outfielder Cameron Maybin will leadoff, as he begins his audition to serve as a right-handed platoon partner with Steven Duggar. Batting second is utility infield prospect Abital Avelino, who was acquired in the Andrew McCutchen trade, and made 11 plate appearances with the big league club last year. Yangervis Solarte, another recent signee to a minor-league deal, will hit in the three spot. Solarte is a utility infielder who has started over 100 games in each of his first five seasons.

Hitting in the seventh spot behind Mac Williamson, Austin Slater, and Aramis Garcia, is 2017 first-round pick Heliot Ramos. Ramos is pegged to be the Giants’ outfielder of the future, and is currently ranked as the No. 92 prospect in all of baseball according to MLB.

Behind Ramos is another utility infielder, Donovan Solano, a five-year veteran who played in over 100 games for the Marlins during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. In the ninth spot is Drew Ferguson, an outfield prospect who the Giants recently acquired in the Rule 5 Draft.

Chris Stratton will take the hill as he attempts to make the opening day rotation.

You can listen to Saturday’s game at 11:55 AM on KNBR 680, or streaming here.
