Klay Thompson doesn’t seem to care about regular-season losses

OAKLAND – They say, “Heavy lies the crown,” just don’t tell that to Klay Thompson.

For the third time this regular season the Golden State Warriors lost to the Houston Rockets. The Rockets also found some regular-season success last year, taking two of three from the champs.

The problem has been getting over the hump in the playoffs. You’re probably aware that the Rockets took the Warriors to a Game 7 in the Western Conference Finals last postseason, but missed 27 straight 3-point shots and blew a lead at home.

ABC7’s Mindi Bach asked Klay Thompson about the struggles the Warriors have had against the Rockets in the regular season, but Thompson was ready for the question.

“Losses are part of the season, no team is going to go undefeated,” Bach said. “But is this loss a little more frustrating? Because the Rockets are a team that the Warriors have had a hard time just getting over that hump over these past two regular seasons.”

“Uh, yeah. But guess what. We haven’t had a tough problem getting over the hump in the playoffs,” Thompson said. “So I’m not too worried.”

Nailed the dismount.

This is why we appreciate Klay Thompson’s interviews so much. There is rarely any false modesty.

Mike D’Antoni, head coach of the Rockets, was asked about the win following the game. He isn’t writing too much into the win either.

“Don’t make too much of it,” D’Antoni said. “It was a good win. They didn’t play as well especially in the first half, they didn’t play very good. So stuff happens like that. They might have not seeing Harden they probably thought it was a letdown, there are all types of reasons but a win is a win and we will try to get the next one.”

The crown might weigh on the champs in early June, but no so much in the middle of February.
