Some things are just bigger than sports.
Prior to Wednesday’s game against the Miami Heat, the Golden State Warriors decided to spend some time on the court with members of the basketball team from Stoneman Douglas High School, the school involved in the infamous Parkland shooting incident last year.
The students were greeted by the players, coaches, and staff, and had the chance to ask questions and interact with some of the games brightest stars.

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry even decided to have a little fun with one of the players, tossing him an alley-oop.
The power of this moment for the team was not lost on head coach Steve Kerr, as he commented on the strength of the people and kids of Parkland, as well as how as a nation we need to address the major social issue of gun-control in the United States.

While the focus of tonight’s game is surely unwavering, it’s important to remember the things that really matter in the world, and for the Warriors, this experience was surely a beacon for that.
