The past week has been a whirlwind of bad press surrounding the San Francisco Giants. After Larry Baer’s public incident on Friday, Giants outfielder Cameron Maybin was arrested the night before for a D.U.I. The arrest was not made public until Tuesday afternoon when Scottsdale Police Department arrest records surfaced on social media before the news was confirmed.

There was no official statement from the Giants or Maybin himself until Wednesday morning, when Maybin tweeted out a personal message regarding the incident.

The arrest was not made public until Tuesday, but the Giants indeed were aware of what happened the following morning.

Many speculated that Maybin’s incident could hinder his chances at making the final 25-man roster at the end of the month, but that does not seem to be the case.

Maybin, who signed a minor-league contract with the Giants a few weeks ago is not guaranteed a spot on the roster and is competing against other outfielders in camp. After a slow start to the spring, Maybin will need to impress these final few weeks, despite his off the field issues.
