SCOTTSDALE, AZ — The San Francisco Giants announced today that they have traded catcher Cameron Rupp to Detroit for cash considerations.
Rupp was signed by the Giants as a minor league free agent in December and invited to Major League camp. He appeared in six spring training games for the Giants, going 3-for-10 with two doubles and two RBI.
In 2018, the 30-year-old combined to hit .223 with 11 doubles, 15 home runs, 44 RBI and a .745 OPS in 86 games between triple-A Round Rock, triple-A Rochester and triple-A Tacoma. Prior to 2018, he spent seven seasons with the Phillies’ organization and hit .234 with 39 home runs and 124 RBI in 296 Major League games.
