Sunday’s strange home loss to the Phoenix Suns became even stranger after the game, when Klay Thompson criticized the Oracle Arena crowd for not being enthusiastic enough. Thompson picked a curious time to do so, considering the Warriors had just lost to a Suns team on the back-end of a road back-to-back, who had won just five games on the road all season.

On Monday, Warriors beat writer Anthony Slater published an interview with Warriors owner Joe Lacob in The Athletic, and asked him about Thompson’s comments. Lacob didn’t agree.

“I love Klay. And I would never say anything bad about Klay. But I think he was wrong about this one. And if I saw him today I would’ve told him that.

“Look, I go to all the games. I’m a fan. I thought at the end of the game last night the fans were on their feet. They were trying to bring the guys back and Klay, by the way, was the guy at the middle of it, playing really hard defense, played great.”

“Fans not being totally into it, maybe that’s the way he perceived it. I didn’t see that. I think our fans are great. I think he was just frustrated that we lost.”

Thompson hasn’t spoken to the media since his comments on Sunday. The Warriors will look to bounce back from the embarrassing loss when the face the in form Rockets in Houston on Wednesday.
