Moves, moves, moves. As the Giants look to set up their roster for opening day, they continue to a day that’s already seen a flurry of activity. The most recent set of transactions sees the former Oakland Athletics outfielder Matt Joyce move on from the Giants just three days after he was signed.
Matt Joyce was traded to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations.

Joyce was traded to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations, while the Giants acquired Michael Reed from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for outfielder John Andreoli. Reed, a 25-year-old right-handed hitting outfielder who played for the Braves last season before being claimed by the Twins, was a former 5th round draft pick by the Milwaukee Brewers back in 2011, straight out of high school.
Michael Reed is a 26-year-old outfielder who can play center, bats right-handed and gets on base. The Twins are getting OF John Andreoli, according to @StribSports. Life is a carousel.

As such, despite being drafted back in 2011, Reed is only 26 years old, and had arguably his best season last year. In his 97 games in the minors in Double- and Triple-A last year, Reed batted .342 with a .453 OBP, 9 home runs and 39 RBIs before his first Major League call up. In his seven games with the Braves, Reed went 2-for-7. Reed is also 5-for-18 with a single home run, 3 runs scored and 4 RBIs this spring with the Twins.
As a result of Reed’s acquisition, the Giants designated relief pitcher Steven Okert for assignment:
