Madison Bumgarner smashes two-run home run against Dodgers

LOS ANGELES – Madison Bumgarner was likely not pleased when he came to bat in the bottom of the sixth inning on Tuesday night. Bumgarner had put himself and the Giants into a self-caused hole in the third inning.

Bumgarner opened the bottom of the third with a throwing error to first base before walking Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu on four-straight pitches, the last of which he was particularly displeased with. After allowing one run already in the inning and with two outs and the bases loaded, Bumgarner allowed a grand slam to Cody Bellinger to deep center field, the first of Bellinger’s career.

After the inning, Bumgarner had an extended conversation with home plate umpire Alfonso Marquez. But in the top of the sixth inning, Bumgarner shot what felt like an angry two-run home run to left field, watching it for a few seconds before rounding the bases. It cut the Giants’ deficit to 5-2.
