Kevin Pillar breaks scoreless tie with third HR in four games

SAN FRANCISCO – There is no doubt newcomer Kevin Pillar is on fire since coming to the San Francisco Giants as he belted a go-ahead home run in the 7th inning.

Pillar had initially struggled at the plate for his new team as he got acclimated into a new city and a new league. However, since Monday night, Pillar has turned a new offensive leaf and is now responsible for 10 of the last 14 Giants runs.

Pillar started the week with a grand slam that ended a three-season drought for the team. The next day, he hit a base-clearing double and ended the game with four RBI. The last Giants player to have two consecutive games with four RBI was Barry Bonds. Pillar has since hit home runs in back to back games and produced the only runs for each outing.

Pillar’s run provided much-needed run support for the gem that Jeff Samardzija threw. The Shark threw seven innings with only three hits and seven strike outs.
