49ers trade linebacker Dekoda Watson to Broncos for pick

With the NFL draft entering it’s final day on Saturday, many new faces will be joining the San Francisco 49ers family. Conversely, some faces will be moving on as the team jockeys for draft position.

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Saturday that they have traded linebacker Dekoda Watson and a 2019 sixth-round pick to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a 2019 fifth-round selection.

Watson, listed at 6’2″/245 lbs. played 18 games for the red and gold, recording 10 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble. Denver went into this draft looking to address a need at the linebacker position, and they hope Watson can deliver.

Watson was a 7th round pick back in 2010 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played for five teams over the first seven years of his career before landing with the 49ers in 2017. Watson only appeared in 18 games in his two year stint in Santa Clara.

Last season Watson missed the team’s first eight games due to a hamstring injury. He played in four games before heading back to the Injured Reserve with an injured calf. He

With the draft almost complete, the 49er faithful can sit back and wait to see if John Lynch pulls any more strings in the trade market by the end of the day.
