With the festivities and excitement of the NFL draft coming to an end this weekend, NFL analyst Greg Cosell appeared with Tolbert & Lund on Monday to talk about how he think the San Francisco 49ers did, as well as what he thinks of the new additions at the wide receiver position.

When asked about the 49ers’ first overall pick Nick Bosa, Cosell says the selection was an absolute no brainer.

“I really like the draft overall, but I really like Bosa,” Cosell said. “He presents as a high level edge rusher, and he’s explosive. What I think he does really well is he plays off contact. He’s got really strong hands, a strong upper body, he understands the leverage game, and is pretty refined, for a young player, with counter moves. You don’t often see that.

“Obviously he has a father who played and an older brother, but to me, it was the no-brainer pick, particularly with the signing of Dee Ford… I think this defense is just clearly now, from a front-seven perspective, getting better.”

As excited as he was about Bosa, Cosell couldn’t hide his praise for what the 49ers did with their second and third picks.

“I loved Deebo Samuel,” Cosell said. “In fact, I loved the two receivers they took. Deebo Samuel has got a compact build and explosive traits. I think you can line him up inside. You can line him up outside. He’s got a vertical dimension to him and tremendous run after catch. He’s really powerful… He’s just a big, explosive athlete who can line up in a number of spots, and I really like the player on tape. He’s a really good prospect.”

Cosell also thinks that 49ers wide receiver Jalen Hurd could be one of the most interesting players to come out of this draft.

“(Hurd) was really fascinating because he was a big time recruit as a running back coming out of Tennessee, and initially went to Tennessee and rushed for over 1000 yards in 2015, sat out a year and wanted to switch from running back, and went to receiver,” Cosell said. “He’s got elite size, length, and plus-athleticism. He’s kind of a loose mover. He predominantly played in the slot, but there’s no question he can line up outside with more experience.

Cosell went on to say that he might be the perfect player for head coach Kyle Shanahan.

“I didn’t know much about him as a receiver until I watched him on tape, and I was kind of really fascinated by him… I think he presents a lot of options for Kyle Shanahan.
