The Giants have placed Buster Posey on the seven-day concussion list for the second time in two seasons the team announced on Thursday. A foul ball off the mask during the Reds game on Sunday caused the concussion, although Posey wasn’t diagnosed until Wednesday during the Giants’ rain out. Posey actually played on Tuesday, but said he didn’t feel quite right according to NBC Sports Bay Area.

“I felt like I should have felt more normal than this after three days,” Posey said.

Here’s the play in question thanks to the incomparable Kerry Crowley:

Posey was also placed on the concussion list in 2017 after taking a fastball off the helmet in a game vs. the Diamondbacks. He missed seven games following that incident.

“When you’re dealing with the brain, you’ve got to be cautious,” Posey said via NBC on Thursday. “I definitely value who I am and will be as a husband and father, first and foremost. At the same time, I enjoy doing my job and plan on doing my job.”

In a corresponding move, the Giants have called up Aramis Garcia to split the catching duties with Stephen Vogt. The club also placed struggling starter Drew Pomeranz on the Injured List with a strained lat, calling up Tyler Beede in his place. The youngster will likely make his second start of the season on Sunday.
