The Golden State Warriors are heading back to the Western Conference Finals for the fifth-straight season. With a 118-113 win in Houston over the Rockets, the Warriors knocked Houston out of the playoffs for the fourth time in five years and booked their ticket to a matchup between either the Denver Nuggets or the Portland Trail Blazers.
They booked that ticket without the best player in the playoffs, and arguably, in the NBA: Kevin Durant. Durant’s strained calf was a relief compared to the shock of what was seen as a potential Achilles injury (largely thanks to commentator Reggie Miller’s insistence that the injury was Achilles-related), but it still knocked Durant out of this series, and it remains to be seen when Durant will be able to return to action.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said after the game that the Warriors’ locker room was near-championship-level excitement after the game, and its clear from Durant’s Instagram post that his reaction was much the same:

But, as Draymond Green said when walking off the court, “We still need KD back. But we can get him back now.”
